Books in Heaven

books in HEAVEN I love to read. My pulse quickens when I step inside of a book store or a library.

So when one of our wonderful Bible study ladies, named Wanda, presented the question of “How many books are in Heaven and what are inside of them”, my interest was immediately piqued. Our Pastor’s mother, Barbara, who is another member of our Bible study group, offered to research the topic. She compiled the following verses. We met and discussed them. It was a wonderful time of stimulating conversation and so much encouragement.

Ultimately, we realized that we have no way of knowing how many books will be there. But what we learned for certain is that the Bible lists several books that will be a part of our eternity.

1. The Bible (This makes me so happy. I love my Bible.)

Psalms 119:89 Forever, O LORD, Your Word is firmly fixed in the heavens.

2. The Books of Records (These books are terrifying. Truly. Really thinking about being judged for all you have done wrong in your life is incredibly unsettling.)

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

3. The Lamb’s Book of Life (My favorite book, praise the Lord!)

Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before His angels.

Exodus 32:32-33 But now, if You will forgive their sin- but if not, please blot me out of Your book that You have written. But the LORD said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot out of My book.

Daniel 12:1 At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.

4. The Book of Remembrance (This was intriguing to me; fascinating to think about.)

Malachi 3:16-18 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed His name. They shall be Mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up My treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.

5. The Seven-Sealed Scroll (triggering the end times)

Revelation 5:1-5 Then I saw in the right hand of Him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” And no one in Heaven or on Earth or under the Earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that He can open the scroll and its seven seals.

6. The Little Scroll (This one is hard to understand, the whole chapter is very interesting. We all sat speechless in wonder at what the little scroll might contain.)

Revelation 10:1-2 Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from Heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with a rainbow over his head, and his face was like the sun, and his legs like pillars of fire. He had a little scroll open in his hand.

7. Book of Tears (What a compassionate God, to keep track of our tears! How amazing, for the holy Creator of the Universe to have such love for one as low as me!)

Psalms 56:8 You have kept count of my tossings (*or wanderings); put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in your book?

One of the most encouraging things that we gleaned from our meeting was this: that those saved by the blood of the Lamb will escape the judgement! The unsaved will be judged by what they have done and said, but the saved will not! Thank You, Lord!

John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears My Word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgement, but has passed from death to life.

Matthew 25:31-34 When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. Before Him will be gathered all the nations, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And He will place the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
